More security for your vir2cloud®: Activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
The protection of sensitive content and media is a core component of our platform. Since the beginning of the year, vir2cloud® has supported Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) — an additional security layer that reliably protects your account from unauthorized access.
A password alone is no longer enough to adequately secure your account. With 2FA, you are required to enter a time-based security code during login. This code is generated on your smartphone or via an authenticator app. This extra step makes unauthorized access virtually impossible — even if your password has been compromised.

Why 2FA matters for vir2cloud®
vir2cloud® is more than just a storage solution — it’s your central platform for managing playlists, media assets, and project data. Protecting this content is our highest priority. 2FA is a key measure to ensure that your creative work remains safe from unauthorized access or manipulation.
How to enable 2FA in vir2cloud®
2FA is activated directly in the User Management area. Your internal user manager can enable the function by switching “Multi Factor Authentication” to “Yes.” If you’re unsure who is responsible within your organization, feel free to contact our support team at — we’ll be happy to assist you.

Required Apps for using 2FA
Once activated, you will need an application that generates the time-sensitive codes. There are several simple and free options for this:
- Google Authenticator (Smartphone App): A widespread and reliable app for your smartphone.
- Authenticator as a Browser Extension: You can also generate codes directly in your Chrome browser.
- Apple’s Integrated Password App (iOS & macOS): Apple users can use the native system feature to scan QR codes and generate codes. The codes are then securely synchronized via iCloud Keychain and auto-filled upon login.
- How-to guide: An official guide from Apple on how to set up verification codes can be found here: Automatically fill in one-time verification codes on iPhone – Apple Support
Security without complexity
The login process remains straightforward: enter your password, confirm with the code — done. In this way, we combine maximum security with a smooth user experience.
By introducing 2FA, we are reinforcing our commitment to delivering a secure, high-quality platform for your media workflows.
